Special Olympics World Winter Games 2009

The Special Olympics World Winter Games 2009 take place in Boise, Idaho from 7th to 13th February 2009. Team Ireland which comprises of 8 athletes will participate in alpine skiing.

Almost 2,500 athletes from over 100 countries will be taking part in the Games making it the largest multi-day winter sporting event ever held in Idaho.

The eight athletes on TEAM Ireland are Ben Purcell (Dalkey, Co. Dublin); Cathal Murphy (Scariff, Co. Clare); Charlie O’Reilly (Sandycove, Co. Dublin); Clara Keogan (Ballsbridge, Dublin 4); Katherine Daly (Dalkey, Co. Dublin); Lorraine Whelan (Delgany, Co. Wicklow); Ryan Hill (Richill, Co. Armagh); and Rebecca McGonagle, Clontarf, Dublin 3).
