eircom celebrates 22 years support for Special Olympics Ireland.
eircom are proprietary sponsor of the 'Support an Athlete' Campaign, the ‘Volunteer Programme’ and the 'Law Enforcement Torch Run'
eircom employees were at the heart of the 'Support An Athlete' Fundraising campaign which raised over €5M. The money is also going to prepare and train athletes for the World Games 2007 in China.
eircom employees are also travelling to work as part of the volunteer team travelling to China for the World Games in October.
eircom offer an Athlete Work Placement to Special Olympics athletes, we are looking forward to having our new athletes in place in September
eircom supply technical services and equipment such as broadband, telephone systems and hardware and a wide area network structure so that all regional offices are networked linked. eircom net host the Special Olympics site.
Special Olympics Ireland Provide sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with a learning disability.
- There are 34,000 people with a learning disability in Ireland;
- 11,000 people take part in Special Olympics;
- 18,000 volunteers and 2500 family members are registered with the organisation;
- Over 400 clubs around the country.
