eircom are proprietary sponsor of the 2009 Special Olympics Fundraising Campaign, the ‘Volunteer Programme’ and the 'Law Enforcement Torch Run'.
eircom employees are at the heart of the 2009 Fundraising Campaign which aims to raise over €5M so that Special Olympics Ireland can continue to change the lives of thousands of people with an intellectual disability throughout the island of Ireland.
eircom offer an Athlete Work Placement to Special Olympics athletes.
eircom supply technical services and equipment such as broadband, telephone systems and hardware and a wide area network structure so that all regional offices are networked linked. eircom net host the Special Olympics site.
Special Olympics Ireland Provide sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with a learning disability.
- There are 34,000 people with a learning disability in Ireland;
- Nearly 11,000 people take part in Special Olympics;
- 18,000 volunteers and 3000 family members are registered with the organisation;
- Over 400 clubs around the country.
