Colin Farrell makes surprise visit to TEAM Ireland
Irish actor Colin Farrell surprised TEAM Ireland today to wish the Irish Athletes the best of luck in advance of the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai. The international star arrived unannounced to their Host Town Farewell Party at The Pearl Hotel and was greeted with cheers of delight from the 141 overwhelmed Irish Athletes. As 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games spokesman, Colin has built up great friendships with Special Olympics Ireland and told the athletes that ‘this is going to be the best week of our lives’.
The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games Opening Ceremony takes place tomorrow evening after months of anticipation and training. Joining Colin Farrell are other big-name celebrities including Bruce Willis, Eva Mendes, Jackie Chan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and an estimated audience of 70,000 people from every continent. Live coverage of the opening ceremony will be shown on Setanta Ireland from 11.30am with highlights presented by Des Cahill in Shanghai at 19.00 on RTE 2.
141 athletes, 55 coaches, 200 volunteers and over 400 family members have traveled from Ireland and descended upon Shanghai to cheer TEAM Ireland on.
