Dundalk Athlete Wins Bronze Medal at 2007 Special Olympics World Games

Ruth Gribbon from Dundalk has won a bronze medal for Ireland at the 2007 Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai. Competing in the bocce competition she lost her first round match to fellow Irish competitor Gary Diamond but went on to take the bronze in an exciting play off game against Amer M. El Makdah from the Lebanon.

The competition was eventually won by Gary Diamond from Kiltimagh in Co. Mayo who is Ireland’s first Gold medal winner at these World Games.
