Armagh Athlete Wins Silver Medal at 2007 Special Olympics World Games

Ireland is in top form today at the 2007 Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai, so far TEAM Ireland has won 4 medals; gold and bronze in bowling and two medals in aquatics.

Ruth Swan from Craigavon, Portadown has won a silver medal in aquatics for Ireland in the 50m free-style competition. Estonian athlete, Anu Saar won gold in the race. Ruth was cheered on by family members and supporters from Ripples Special Olympics Swimming Club, Craigavon.

141 athletes, 55 coaches, 200 volunteers and over 400 family members from Ireland are in China for the 2007 Special Olympics Summer Games.
