Ben’s Special Olympics career began when he was just 6 years old and he joined the Tivoli Tigers Special Olympics Gymnastics Club. A year later he joined Blackrock Flyers and started participating in other sports. In 2006 he represented Blackrock Flyers and Special Olympics Eastern Region in the 2006 Special Olympics Ireland Games where he won a silver medal for in basketball in the skills section.
Ben began skiing with the Kilternan Karvers Special Olympics Club about 2 years ago and very quickly got the hang of it. He had already been skiing with his family so it wasn’t strange to him. Over the past 2 years he has improved hugely and has even been known to do the Haka coming down the slope!!
Ben just loves everything about Special Olympics - he has made many friends through Special Olympics, he loves being involved in all his sports and Ben thrives on the attention he receives when he competes in his events and games.
