Clara Keogan
Name: Clara Keogan

Sports: Alpine Skiing, Gymnastics, Athletics, Basketball, Aquatics
A real sports enthusiast, Clara first took up gymnastics at age 8 and now takes part in 5 different sports – gymnastics, athletics, basketball, swimming and of course alpine skiing. She is a member of three Special Olympics Clubs – Tivoli Tigers, Blackrock Flyers and Kilternan Karvers.
Clara also loves dancing and up to age 14 attended ballet lessons. She subsequently took up hip hop and street dance which she gave up last year in order to concentrate on training for the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games. She promises to resume dancing after the games.
Clara’s first experience of skiing on snow was only last December, when she attended a training camp in Austria with the rest of TEAM Ireland. While initially nervous of heights and the ski lifts, she quickly overcame this and mastered them after a day or two. She thoroughly enjoyed the snow and is eagerly looking forward to the World Games in Boise.
Having had many medical problems as a child Clara now enjoys much better health and is living life to the full. She is often heard to exclaim "It’s a wonderful life!"
