Sports: Alpine Skiing, Gymnastics, Aquatics
Katherine has always enjoyed sport and currently is a member of three Special Olympics Clubs – Kilternan Karvers, Blackrock Flyers and Viking Swimmers. She is a great all weather-swimmer and is well able to paddle her own canoe, or in her case her own kayak. She has also tried her hand at surfing, windsurfing and sailing. Last summer she spent a month at a camp in Connecticut in the US where she learned many new sports.
Katherine attends Loreto Abbey School in Dalkey where she is in Junior Certificate year. She loves Loreto, the girls, the teachers and especially her Special Needs Assistant (Eimear), but like everyone she has a few issues about school and homework! She walks to school everyday through the village of Dalkey and tries to avoid temptation in the form of Country Bake – one of the best cake shops in Ireland. Katherine is delighted to be part of Team Ireland for the Special Olympics World Winter Games and all her family and friends are very proud of her achievements.
